Curator Cecilia Pardo Grau presents the highlights of the British Museum’s acclaimed exhibition Peru: A journey in time, and traces the history, beliefs and cultural legacy of the peoples who lived in Peru from c. 2,500 BC to the arrival of the Europeans in the 1500s. This talk features the British Museum’s own collection, including pottery, precious metals, textiles and ritual paraphernalia, as well as extraordinary loans from Peru itself.
From early indigenous peoples such as the Moche and Nazca to the ill-fated Inca, discover how Peru’s past cultures were shaped by the diverse landscapes of the central Andes, and flourished at some of the highest altitudes and in the driest deserts on earth.
Peru: A journey in time is at the British Museum 11 November 2021 - 20 February 2022
